Q&A
Q: What song do you play on repeat?
A: Recently I've had "Flowers Will Return" by Shannon and The Clams on a loop.
Q: What's the best way to start the day?
A: Don't talk to me! Haha jk but I am a terrible "first of the morning" person. Definitely a shot of apple cider vinegar (yum) and then a shot of espresso before making a smoothie to start my day is my go-to routine...Before throwing on some music.
Q: What is the most impactful project you've worked on and why.
A: I created a floral series for a client many years ago. They were bold, vibrant and a lot of fun to shoot. Shooting that series opened up my interest in florals. When I'm not shooting commercially, I have been shooting a personal series on that subject matter ever since.
Q: Which art/photo exhibit that you've seen has impacted you the most?
A: I saw a sculptural show by Adriana Varejao last year; the way she pushes textural elements in a physical space is really inspiring.
Q: What risks are worth taking?
A: Anything that can lead to further happiness is always a scary risk worth taking.
Q: What are the first 3 chapters of your autobiography titled?
A: How Pre-Med Student. Went. Photographer.
Q: Best and worst advice you've ever received.
A: Best - A friend once told me to always keep testing and creating new work. Most client-driven work I've received throughout the years has always come from a test idea that I created first.
Q: One thing you can't show up to a shoot without - Besides a camera ;)
A: A playlist involving T.Rex, Ethio-jazz, or 60's Psych Rock. Always makes the day fly by in a positive way.
